Allergy Season is Here! Part 3 of our dive into the causes & treatments for seasonal allergies

During the height of COVID, consumers became highly motivated to support their immune system. Quercetin is a biologically active flavonoid antioxidant. It is known for its ability to stabilize mast cells, diminishing the release of histamine. And we know the havoc histamine can cause on our system, so to stabilize the mast cell and prevent the release is so helpful during allergy season. However, it is hard to have physiological doses to be absorbed, and taking it with Vitamin C is helpful to promote absorption. Bromelain, a plant enzyme from the core of a pineapple, has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and helps with the absorption of Quercetin. Stinging Nettles is another plant that has been shown to balance immune response, especially in airways and nasal passages. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a powerful antioxidant that helps decrease the viscosity or thickness of mucus. It is a natural alternative to Mucinex. All that being said, Ortho Molecular has designed a supplement, Natural D-Hist, with all these ingredients to provide comprehensive support for seasonal allergies. Natural D-

Hist is a perfect alternative to traditional antihistamines in that it stabilizes our Mast Cells preventing the release of Histamines which causes the allergy reactions. It is available in adult and child formulations.

While I certainly appreciate the combination product from OrthoMolecular, some people would rather take single entity products. What this means is I have had specific requests for just NAC. Usually this is to treat the constant annoyance of mucus drainage. Or I have had requests for Quercetin. Again, this product is to stabilize the mast cell and prevent the release of histamine and the likewise reactions of histamine.

At the end of the day, besides to just have an overall sense of well-being, it is important to control your seasonal allergies to promote a strong immune response in order to not then pick up any other respiratory illness.
